Anil Kumar is the managing partner of Mindspan LLC, a personal investment and advisory firm with interests in healthcare, education and technology. Prior to this, he was Senior Partner and Chairman of the Asia Center at McKinsey & Company, Inc. based in Silicon Valley, New York, and New Delhi. In 1998 Anil created and led the Internet consulting practice at McKinsey and Company, which grew to represent a quarter of the firm’s business worldwide. Additionally, he founded McKinsey’s consulting practice in three other areas: outsourcing and offshoring, which spearheaded India’s remote services revolution, business-building (intrapreneurship), and globalization. He was also instrumental in founding and growing McKinsey & Company in both Silicon Valley and India.
In 1997 Anil co-founded the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad, India, today ranked among the top 15 business schools in the world.
Anil is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a founding charter member of The Indus Entrepreneurs, and a member of the World Presidents Organization. He is also a member of the research faculty at the University of Houston focusing on the application of technology to healthcare access. He has published in the Sloan Management Review, McKinsey Quarterly, and Harvard Business Review. Anil received an M.B.A. with high distinction from the Wharton School. He has an M.Sc. in Applied Mechanics from Imperial College, University of London, where he ranked first in the University, and earned a B.Technology degree with distinction in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay.
